How are you celebrating World Diversity Day today?
May 21st is the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development to highlight the importance of cross cultural dialogue, diversity and inclusion.
“Seek first to understand, then to be understood,” explains Stephen R. Covey in his widely cited and highly successful book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. It is an important lesson to learn and utilise as we increasingly become more interconnected and mutually reliant.
When we embrace difference and seek to learn about each other’s values and cultures, we find better relationships and richer partnerships.
As the world becomes smaller, organisations must work effectively for an inclusive and diverse corporate culture and workplace.
Here are some ideas to celebrate diversity wherever you are. Visit an art exhibit dedicated to other cultures, plan an international movie night or organise a international potluck where everyone shares their own traditional food and customs.
